Our Christmas Eve tradition is to go out to dinner with Ben's family. It used to be when their parents were young and poor that they only went out to dinner once a year: on Christmas Eve. So, it's become somewhat of a tradition and I love being able to spend that time with the family that's here in Georgia. Right now, that includes Ben's parents, Ben's sister, and us. This year was by far my favorite so far--we went to a Hibachi place. I'd never actually eaten Hibachi, but this was only because I didn't know how AWESOME Hibachi is! Our chef wasn't particularly energetic, but it was an experience, nonetheless.
We actually hosted Christmas dinner at our house for my parents, my brothers and my in-laws. It was a mighty undertaking but it all came out well in the end. For the main dish, we decided to make a ham ... from scratch. Ben found a recipe that he wanted to try, and so he was the mastermind behind this undertaking. We took the fresh ham, brined it overnight ...
smothered it in an herb paste ...
and roasted it to perfection ...
Despite taking 2 hours longer than we had planned, it was DELICIOUS.
Although Lydia didn't really get the concept of "opening presents", she still enjoyed playing with her new toys, including this toy piano that I got at a thrift store for $1.40. It is in perfect condition and she loves it.
She also looked absolutely adorable in this new outfit from grandma and grandpa.
A couple of days after Christmas we finally found time to decorate gingerbread houses with my niece and nephew. I think Lydia is going to be ALL over that next year. I thought they turned out quite yummy ... I mean beautiful!
Last but not least, our big Christmas family activity this year was bowling! We spent 2 hours at the bowling alley and I bowled the 2 worst games of my life! Still, it was super fun and we even got to take a picture all together.
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!

That ham looks soooo good! We also had ham, it's just not Christmas without ham in my book, and we love using the ham bone for soup. Lydia's little outfit is so sweet, Marin's is the same but in a dark turquoise color, she looks so posh when she wears it!
How fun. Jeremy wanted to go bowling on Christmas too. He was hoping it would put me into labor. LOL!
Glad you had a nice Christmas. I had a dream last night we were moving to Georgia. Weird. I remember being happy though because it meant I would get to be closer to you. Love ya and miss ya!
