Growing up ...

My little girl is growing up!  I can't believe that she is almost 7 months old already.  It seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital and now she weighs about twice as much as she did then ... *Sigh*  It happens way too fast.

Lydia is getting sooooo close to crawling.  In fact, despite the huge drawbacks to having a mobile baby, I wish she would just do it already because she's so bored!  The only thing that makes her happy (besides playing with mom and dad, of course) is standing up and playing at the ottoman.  She loves to just stand and play.  I have to stand her up because she's not quite to the point of pulling herself up yet, but once she's up, she can stay up pretty well.  In fact it's amazing how much her balance has improved just this past week since she's been doing that.

And ... dum dum dum ... she's sleeping through the night!  All night!  For 12 hours!  I probably could have sleep trained her earlier, but I just wasn't sure she was quite ready.  Finally after a couple of bouts of sickness and her waking up and comfort nursing MULTIPLE times a night even after she was well, I decided enough was enough.  I sleep trained her in one night but I can't really take any credit for that.  She is just an incredibly easy baby.  Now as long as I make sure she gets good meals during the day, she can go all night no problem.

I don't think I have blogged about this, but I also started her on solid foods finally about 3 weeks ago.  Now, she loves anything and everything I let her try.  The other night we were eating pizza and she desperately wanted some.  So, I broke off tiny pieces of the crust and let them disintegrate in her mouth.  She loved it.  I've given her cheerios a couple of times too, but she has trouble not choking on those, so we're still working on it.  So far she has tried sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, pears, avocado, rice cereal, banana, cottage cheese and yogurt.  I'm making my own baby food (except for the cottage cheese and the rice cereal) and it's really easy.  At first I had to mix it with a lot of breast milk in order for her to palate it, but now she gobbles it all down un-diluted.  I also give her sips of water here and there which she loves.  Technically she doesn't need water, but she loves it! Silly baby ... I think she mostly loves copying mom by drinking water from a glass.

And now for a few pictures.  Last week we went with a couple of friends to the Children's Museum in Atlanta.  Every second Tuesday it is free admission after 1pm.  Not the most convenient time if you have children in school, but if you don't, it's a great thing to do!  Lydia was really too young for most of it, but she enjoyed watching the kids run around and mommy had fun getting out of the house.

Mommy and me!

She had the BEST time sitting in front of the mirror and playing with herself.  You can see Clark watching her and copying what she is doing.  It was so cute!!
