First Haircut

A few weeks ago, I gave Lydia her first ever haircut. I know, I know, she's almost 2 1/2.  But she had these beautiful curls and I just couldn't bear the thought of losing them :(  However, after spending about 5 minutes every morning untying (read, "ripping") knots out of her hair (due to the fact that she's a compulsive hair twirler), I decided that enough was enough.  I figured (correctly) that if her hair was a little shorter, she wouldn't be able to tie it into as many knots during the night.  So, I got her all set up watching Sesame Street videos on YouTube and she sat still enough for me to get it mostly straight.  I think it turned out pretty good, although I miss her adorable curls terribly.

BEFORE

 See?? Compulsive hair twirler!!!

AFTER
No more beautiful curls (sniff sniff).  On the upside, no more knots!!
One funny note, when Ben asked Lydia what happened to her hair, Lydia responded, "Mommy took it away."  Oh that funny, funny girl.

You hair robber, you! That reminds me of when our niece Lucy got her haircut for the first time (I think she was about 2). She kept saying, "No, don't cut me princess hairs!" I think the haircut looks really cute. You'll love how much easier it will be to comb and that you won't be ripping her hair out. Sophie's had 2 haircuts so far, but it's mostly to try to get her hair to all be the same color (she has light brown hair with blonde highlights and then these super dark tips from her black hair when she was born). Ha ha!

Awww! It's hard to cut the hair for the first time. I did Marin's hair when she was little for the same reason: chronic hair twirler. Those knots aren't pretty! It looks super cute though!! And yay for ballet! That looks like a ton of fun!
