So, I'm discovering what happens when you get a boyfriend: practically everything in your life goes on the back burner!! It's been a while since I've had a boyfriend and I've never had one that I wanted to be around so much. Well, suffice it to say that my life right now is very busy and full of fun! And, I never realized that dating could be so much fun, or that a relationship could happen so naturally as it has with myself and Joe. I'm very happy with the way things are.Relationships aside, life is very good! I changed the brakes on my car a week and a half ago, and THAT was an experience. I had changed the front brakes a year ago when I was taking that basic auto mechanics course, but I didn't think I would have my car long enough to warrant changing the rear ones too. Well, my car is 156K and still going strong. So, I pulled the rear tires off and slapped some new brake pads on there. When I first took the tire off I drew a blank and thought, "so .... what do I do next??" But I remembered as I went along. The tough part came when we had to push the calipers back in. Jonathan was helping me and he managed to get the first one in with a large wrench. But when we moved around to the other side, the caliper would not budge!!! Two hours, one trip to Sears and $13 later, I had a 6" C-clamp which was able to push that second caliper back in beautifully! So, if you ever need to borrow a 6" C-clamp, I've got a nice one!! We managed to get everything put back together and now the brakes have stopped grinding. They just squeak instead, which is fine, because I KNOW they are working! And I saved myself 150 bucks!
This past Saturday we had a church activity and we went down to Zebulon, Georgia. One of the guys in the branch knows some folks down there who have a large farm. They had a pool and a hot tub (although I didn't bring my suit), they also had horses and boats and a large field where we set up a shooting range and shot clay pigeons. I think we had about 400 clay pigeons and about 500 rounds of 12-gauge shotgun shells, so we had a blast! (Literally.) I actually shot 5 or 6 of the clay pigeons! I had never been able to shoot anything that was moving before. One of the guys had a single-load shotgun and MAN! That thing had such a strong kickback! I shot 3 times on that gun, got one clay pigeon and then I was just too bruised to continue with that gun. I did shoot another gun and was able to shoot several more rounds with that one, and I got some more clay pigeons. After the shooting was over I was going to ride the horse, but the horses had been running around for a couple of hours already and they were pretty tired. I got up on the horse and it didn't want to go anywhere!! I couldn't really blame it. He looked pretty tired!
